Clariberry is a small family business in Oshawa, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit clariberry.ca or place an order, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and how you can get in touch about it. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
When you place an order
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Billing address, and shipping address if you choose delivery
- What you ordered, the amount paid, and your order history
- Any notes you add to your order
We never see or store your full card number. Card details are entered on a payment form hosted by our payment processor and go directly to them. We receive only a confirmation, the last four digits and the card type.
When you simply visit the site
- Your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view
- Cookies that keep your cart working and remember your preferences
- Analytics and advertising identifiers, described below
When you contact us or subscribe
If you email us, enter a draw, or sign up for updates, we keep what you send us — your name, email address and the content of your message — so we can reply and, where you asked for it, send you occasional news. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
Why we collect it
To take and fulfil your order, arrange pickup or shipping, process payment, answer your questions, meet our tax and business record-keeping obligations, keep the site secure and working, and — only if you have opted in — send you updates. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- WooCommerce Payments (Stripe) — processes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments.
- Shipping carriers — receive the name and address needed to deliver your parcel.
- Google — Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics for site statistics, and Google Listings & Ads for product listings and advertising measurement.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — the Meta pixel and conversions integration measure advertising performance and may be used to show you our ads.
- Akismet (Automattic) — checks submitted comments and form entries for spam, which involves sending the submission and IP address for analysis.
- Our web host and email provider — store the site and deliver our email.
Some of these providers operate outside Canada, including in the United States. Where information is stored or processed in another country, it may be accessible to the courts and authorities of that country under its laws.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
Cookies and tracking
Some cookies are necessary — without them your cart empties and checkout does not work. Others are analytics and advertising cookies set by Google and Meta. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through YourAdChoices Canada. Blocking necessary cookies will stop parts of the shop from working.
How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for seven years, because Canadian tax rules require us to retain business records. Contact messages and mailing-list entries are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until they are no longer needed. Analytics data is retained according to each provider’s own retention settings.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, payment details never touch our server, and access to order information is limited to the people who run the business. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, withdraw your consent to marketing at any time, or complain about how we have handled it. Email info@clariberry.ca and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Children
Our shop is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
